What is a Doctor of Audiology?
To be an audiologist in Oregon, a person must have either a Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited university graduate program in audiology. Being accepted into an audiology program is as competitive as getting into nursing, dentistry and physical therapy tracks. An audiologist must complete many hours of practicums and a fellowship year of training before being certified. A hearing instrument specialist in Oregon must have at least a high school diploma or GED, and a total of 160 hours of training in theory as well as practical, supervised training.
